What I loved most about my time writing on this show was the series’ central character, Archibald Strutter. Being one part relatable and two parts aspirational, he’s a writer’s dream. He doesn’t just seek out the good, he is the good. And in many ways, he’s an anomalous role model for the modern world.
The writers room on this project was a very special place. At the helm was Tony Hale, Eric Fogel, Drew Champion, Jacob Moffat, and Kevin Kramer. Each of whom brought immense talent and expertise. And the trust bestowed on me and my fellow writers (Noelle Lara and Ellie Guzman) was incredibly liberating. We were encouraged to inject our personal tales (and traumas) into the stories. Getting hopelessly lost in a Wisconsin corn maze as a 6-year-old became the episode “Crazy Maze”, once and believing my mother’s new toaster to be haunted turned into the inspiration for “The Ghoster”.
But the writing was simply the first stop on a long train ride for a project such as this. My scripts were taken, shaped, and lovingly molded by incredible talents to create the product you see today. All of the credit belongs to the designers, storyboard artists, editors, voice over artists, directors, and the hard working production folks who usher the project from start to finish.
I personally wrote 13 episodes, was a Staff Writer for 48 episodes, and a Script Supervisor for 52. So much of my soul was embedded into this project and I will always fondly remember the times with my friend, Archibald.
